Welcome to Art Mosquito – I’m Julia Anne Moore, an Ayrshire artist creating acrylic paintings from the heart, where Scotland’s nature, imagination, and healing unite on canvas
What we do?
My friends had spent a long time searching for artwork that spoke to them, but nothing ever felt right. I had already taken some photos of the Greenan shoreline in Ayr, a stretch of coast they know by heart, and one image in particular struck me with its dramatic skies and shifting light. I instinctively chose it as the subject for their commission, knowing it held both strength and intimacy. As I worked on the canvas, I realised I wasn’t just creating it for them—this was also a view etched deeply into me, a place that felt like part of my own story. When I revealed the finished piece in their home, the reaction was unforgettable. Friends who gathered there were visibly moved, and even their dog stood transfixed before the canvas as if it too recognised the scene. The evening became an emotional celebration, filled with surprise, gratitude, and connection. They told me they were shocked at how truly it captured their sense of home. For me, it became more than just a commission; it was a shared story on canvas, bound with memory, belonging, and emotion.
Art Mosquito (Julia Anne Moore)I am a visual artist whose journey began with childhood sketching. In later years I immersed myself in performing around the world before spending more than a decade creatively supporting children with autism, a chapter that was profoundly nourishing. In time, during lockdown, turbulent experiences drew me back to a soulful, healing, art practice, reconnecting me with my Scottish roots and the serenity of nature. Through vibrant landscapes and emotive, natural imagery, my art becomes a vessel for healing and transformation. Now back in Ayrshire, I welcome you to be a part of my story.
